This summit, called the Waifuku summit (of Binaiya), has been considered the top of
the Binaiya mountain, however, the west summit is higher. The west summit is located
in a conservation area and the National Park did not permit visits there in the past.
Also, local guides and porters may insist that this is the summit of the Binaiya mountain.
Therefore, very unfortunate, perhaps most (of the few) ascents of this mountain area has ended
here.
The local community has built shelters on the route and they receive income from people
that want to climb this mountain. If this shall continue and perhaps even expand, then
the National Park and the local community must communicate the facts of this mountain
correctly. Cooperation is needed such that trekkers and climbers are informed up front about
the location of the true summit and such that permission to go there is always granted.
