How to get there:
This report decribes access starting from the road that serves the summer alpine ski area on the Folgefonnen glacier. One may drive all the way there or stop at the nice parking area on the right hand side at location N60.24762, E006.40766, elevation near 850 meter.
Route description:
First, ski up the slopes towards Smalnuten, 1176m (right side of the picture). One may pass on the north side of the summit, but high enough to avoid the steepish slope on your right (down towards Svartavatnet). Enter the north-east corner of lake 1084, then ascend the broad ridge named Svartavassberget. This slope exceeds 30 degrees slightly, but only at the upper part. Next, continue on easy terrain to the summit.
Comments:
The forecast this Saturday was just excellent and Harald and I wanted more spring mountaineering skiing. We left his house at 0715, caught the 0850 ferry to Jondalen and parked before the road had any snow. The upper part of the road was still snow covered.
We left the car at 0945 and had a nice, uphill ski to the summit, arriving there after about 1:30 hours. A short break to enjoy the great scenery. We next continued to the summit called NW of Juklavatnet.
