Information:

How to get there:
This mountain is easily reached from the DNT-hut Vardadalsbu. Access from the road in Modalen requires a bigger effort. There is space for 1-2 cars off the road (on the left side), right next to the trailhead. This location is N60.933419, E005.971302, elevation about 135 meter.
Route:
There is a T-signed trail (signed for Vardadalsbu) here is a T-signed trail (signed for Vardadalsbu) starting directly from the small access road. Follow this as it climbs steeply uphill. A bridge provides easy crossing of the small river near 540 meter of elevation. Continue uphill along the trail until you reach the small lake Kvernhusbotnvatnet, elevation 904m, on your right hand side.
Leave the trail here, walk east (right) on the south side of the lake, then cross the small col (going east) to reach the lake just north-east of Kvernhusbotnvatnet. Walk around on its left side, cross the small creek coming from the upper lake and ascend the ridge on the north side of this (upper) lake. Continue pretty much near the top of this broad ridge as it heads west and connects with the summit of Eldhusfjellet. The summit has a very impressive cairn.
Comments:
I did this climb with my friend Harald. We first visited the mountain Taket. Next, it took about 1:20 to walk across to Eldhusfjellet. We had split, as Harald wanted to visit the DNT-hut Vardadalsbu, while I headed more directly across. My route was far from optimal, crossing several steepish sections and running into the small lakes that turned out to be more connected than they looked. I detoured west and crossed between the two lakes, then ascended the mountain.
A very impressive cairn, but no Harald. I had expected him to be there before me. After about 15 minutes, he came up a scramble route from the west side. It was a bit windy and we were already behind our schedule, so we immediately descended the route described above. Arriving back down at the car by 1700 was more than 1:30 hour late, such things do happen when the terrain turns out to be more demanding than anticipated. Thanks to Harald for good company!
