Grays Peak

  • Grays Peak
  • 4349 m
  • 9th in Colorado
  • Primary factor 850 m
  • Climbed July 1997.

Information:

How to get there: Take exit Bakerville from I-70 about one hours drive from Denver. Continue up Steven Gulch on a small dirt road (this road was in poor condition, barely passable for a passenger car when we visited.) Park at the end of the road after crossing some private property.
Route description: The trail climbs into a nice U-shaped valley with beautiful wildflowers towards the mountain. At the end of the valley, the trail climbs in switchbacks directly to the summit. The climb is an easy walk on a well marked trail all the way.
Comments: Grays Peak has a nice view towards Summit County to the west. It one of only two fourteeners on the continental divide.
