How to get there: The peak is located in the Black Hills region, near Rapid City in south-west South Dakota. A good starting point is the parking area at Sylvan Lake.
Route description: From Sylvan lake there are two different trails leading to Harney, both trails are easy to follow. The rightmost trail (as seen from the parking area) takes you by some very impressive pinnacles that certainly have extremely challenging technical routes.
Comments: The next higher point east of Harney is in the Pyrenees in Europe.
