Information:

How to get there:
Drive from Stryn to Horninsdal, do not follow E-39 northwest through the big tunnel, but turn more east here with signs for Hellesylt and Stranda. Only about 1.4 kilometer up this road, look for a sign saying skisenter, a smaller road going left. Follow this road (signs) until you arrive at the big (pay NOK 40 in 2015) parking area serving the small ski area. This location is N62.00965, E006.56604, elevation 380 meter.
Route description:
Follow the road (not plowed) that starts at the end of the parking and runs gently into the valley on the left hands side of some open fields. Soon, you will have a couple of cabins on your left and more a bit away on your right. The road forks and the right branch serves the houses on the small ridge on your right. Take this way and locate a bridge just downslope from the cabins. Cross and head uphill on the far side, possibly passing yet another cabin up in the hillside where you also cross the local road once more. Continue uphill, higher up you will see a valley that forks left, this is the key to the route.
Comments:
I did this trip with my friend Åke Dahlen. I drove from Bergen in the evening, the day before and Åke came with a bus from Lillehammer. I slept in my car at the bus stop and woke up as Åke stood outside. We drove to the parking at the ski center and were ready to go already at 0800.
Unfortunately, the weather was not great despite the very nice forecast. We kept a reasonable pace and arrived without any problems at the summit by 1145. Total whiteout, but more visibility below 1200 meter. We skied carefully back down and met two other parties on their way uphill. Back at the car by 1345. We next drove to Hellesylt and established a HQ for the next three days.
