How to get there:
When you reach the col with a parking area on your left, then turn in and park. This is the trailhead, location S43.71508 E172.78380, elevation about 675 meter.
This is a quick summary and reference to climbs made on this trip.
Route description:
Follow the ridge, strating directly from the parking. First, the route runs along a small farmers road. Later, the route follows a trail. The trail is partially marked, but overall there are no route finding problems. Note that you cross several local hills before you get to the summit. That is, the total vertical on this route is quite a bit more than the difference between the trailhead and the summit.
Comments:
Our flight to Tasmania (via Sydney) left early on Jan 15th. This last day was spent to explore a nearby P600 mountain. We left our car at the parking in the pass at 1135. We had fog and mist with limited visibility, but with no route finding problems, our hike went smoothly across fields and between cows, then ended at the summit at 1245. We stayed for 10 minutes, then returned back to our trailhead in precisely one hour.
