Location: North 60:28.147 East 005:10.427 (GPS on the summit)
Difficulty: YDS class 1
Climbed March 11, 2012.
Information:
How to get there:
Drive to Askøy. Continue north on the main road about 8.5 kilometer after
the bridge. Locate a gas station on your right hand side and turn right just before
this gas station. Keep right and drive until the road is blocked by a gate. Park
somewhere here (there are too many no parking signs in this area and no developed
place for visitor parking.)
This location is N60:27.540 E005:09.516, elevation about 60 meter.
Route description:
Continue along the small road beyond the gate, then make a left as you
hit a new road. This road turns into a forest road. Further along, follow this
forest road and make a left when the road forks. This road eventually
curves right and you will arrive at a new fork where a small road heads more steeply
uphill (sharp left), take this branch. There are signs for "Dronninga".
Leave the road (right), as you follow signs. Higher up there is another fork, left
to Dronninga, right to "Utsikten", also named Storåsen. Dronninga is a pretty
flat area with picnic tables and benches.
The other high point is more of a distinct viewpoint.
There are several signs and most
probably a nice view in good weather.
Comments:
This was to be my 5th. and last summit on this Sunday afternoon. I had some initial
trouble with an unfriendly neighborhood, having posted an unusually large number of
private property and no parking signs.
Thus the time was already 1710 before I left my car.
The route was easy and I first visited
the point called Dronninga. About 5 minutes later, at 1740, I was measuring the elevation
of the south summit, Utsikten. My GPS gave thgis point an edge, claiming it was one meter
higher than Dronninga. Happy with this, I hurried back to my car and arrived there by 1800.
This concluded my Sunday afternoon raid of 5 island summits, starting with my short
trip to Botlenipa.
