Information:

How to get there: Fly to Padang, West Sumatra. Arrange in advance that the people on Paradiso Village (Frederica and Nanni) knows about your arrival. They will organize a car that will pick you up at the airport. Look for a person outside Arrival that has a sign with your name or with "Cubadak Island". The trip from the airport to this destination should not take more than 2 hours, including a 10-15 minute boat ride at the end.
Route description: Locate the trail in the back of the village or ask any staff to show you the beginning of the trail. The trail is fairly obvious to follow as it climbs fairly steeply through the jungle. However, this is not a trail frequently used and it is somewhat steep in places. The overall route thus carries a (YDS) grade of class 2.
Comments: We used this place (Cubadak Island) as a "family base camp" for my climb of Kerinci, the Sumatra HP. This is most likely, the best place to stay if one wants to combine a relaxed tropical beach vacation and good Italian/Indonesian meals with a reasonable approach to Kerinci. The travel time from Cubadak to Kerisk Tua is about 6 hours and the owner of Paradiso Village will be more than happy to organize the transport in a convenient manner.
