Location: North 37.75736, West 25.35941 (GPS on the summit)
Difficulty: YDS class 1
Climbed: July 30. 2014
Information:
Here is a quick summary of my climbs in the Azores islands.
How to get there:
This mountain is located just west of the famous Lagoa das Furnas.
Locate a small, paved road that heads north from the main Hwy. connecting
Furlas to Ponta Delgado. The peak is on the right hand side of the road,
its summit marker clearly visible as
you get close. Find parking at the
roadside nearby and stroll to the summit. Route description:
The climb is a 5 minute easy walk on nice grass.
Comments:
I actually arrived from the opposite direction after visiting Furnas. I had
first visited the nice viewpoint Pico do Ferro overlooking
the crater lake and
the town Furnas.
I then explored smaller roads and arrived at the trailhead.
