Information:

How to get there:
Drive to Tyinkrysset on E-16, then turn north on the road that ascends to lake Tyin, also signed for Årdal. As you get to lake Tyin, make a right onto the road signed for Eidsbugarden. Drive this road approximately 1 kilometer and find parking on the left hand side of the road. This is the trailhead/parking, location N61.23334, E008.25047, elevation about 1095 meter.
Route description:
Locate the 4WD road (private) that heads up the hillside from the road, opposite from the lake. Follow this road, first uphill, then towards lake Øyangen, running south of the mountain Målegge (1454m). Shortly before the lake, a well marked trail (marked with a white "V"), forks right. Follow this trail, first flat, then ascending to the north ridge of Horntind. A short, final section, then take the right fork of the trail going directly uphill slightly right (west) of the summit, to a nice summit cairn.
Comments:
After yesterday, with a big climb of Stølsnostind, followed by a great (6 course) dinner hosted by Helge at Eidsbugarden hotel (turned 50 years in July), it was very appropriate with a late breakfast this morning.
We left Eidsbugarden at 1100, drove to the trailhead, then started hiking at 1140. The weather was nice and the group was enjoying the fall colors and a very nice route suggested by Hilde and Helge. We arrived at the summit around 1250, a pretty good pace. Enjoying the view we were all quite happy on the top. Starting back after a 20 minute break, we returned to the cars at 1310.
We next drove towards Årdal and stopped at Sletterust, where Hilde and Helge fairly recently had bought a mountain cabin. A very nice hut with an excellent location. We had a short break there before saying goodbye, many thanks to Hilde and Helge for hosting a great birthday party!
