Information:

How to get there:
Drive north on Hwy. E-6, turn right (east) on Hwy. 74 about 8 kilometer south of Grong. Drive past the village of Sandvika and turn right (towards Mebygda/Sørli) on Hwy. 765. In Mebygda, you will see a white statue of the local cross country skier Frode Estil on your left. Turn left here, before the Hwy. crosses a small bridge. Follow this road (dirt) uphill to Estilseteren, this is location N64.24126, E013.85727, elevation about 530 meter. Park here.
Route description:
A clear trail heads uphill (on the left side of the open area) into the forest. Follow this trail through the first section of forest. This trail emerges out into a more open meadow area. It looks like a vague trail fork here. Continue on what looks like the left fork. Follow the somewhat vague traces of a path across these meadows, you will soon hit a track with evidence of motorized transport coming from your left and continuing right. There are a couple of pole markers as well. Follow this very visible track to Vestgårdsseteren. Continue north-east and locate a good place to cross the river Storåa. Most likely, you will have to cross without your boots, the water depth will typically reach half way to your knees.
The terrain is very nice to walk. Pick your course towards the distinct basin south-west of the summit. There is a very gradual slope leading up to near 1000 meter of elevation. Continue towards the summit. One may head a bit more right and gain the broad saddle just south of Hestkjøltoppen. The last part of the ascent will then proceed up the south ridge to the summit cairn.
Comments:
I did climb with my good friend Jostein. We started from Estilseteren at 0850 and had a very nice trek, arriving at the summit at 1110. We stayed only 15 minutes, signing the summit register. It was quite windy near the summit, but much nicer only slightly lower down.
We had a very pleasant walk back down, easy terrain and nice scenery. We were back at the car at 1510, next we drove to Lierne Gjestegård. We were well received and had a nice evening meal and a good night sleep.
The following day, I drove Jostein back to Grong, he had to return to Trondheim. I then drove back to prepare for a very long hike into Blåfjella.
