Here is a quick summary of my climbs in the Azores islands.
How to get there:
This mountain is located near the mountain road that runs from near Montanho do Pico and all the
way to the end of the island.
You will pass the trailhead for Grotoes,, and drive until you are in a pretty
open area with the mountain up on your left hand side. The location of a reasonable trailhead is
N38.43908, W028.21766, elevation about 950 meter.
Route description:
From the trailhead, walk directly uphill towards a saddle on the left hand side of your
target peak. As soon as you reach the saddle, turn more right and climb a slightly steeper
slope to the summit marker. Comments:
I visited this peak after climbing Grotoes located nearby. When at the top,
I noticed the small ridge right
across and wondered if it mifght be of equal height. It was easy to
hike over there and look back at the summit marker.
My conclusion (later verified on
a map) was that the summit marker is indeed the highest point.
