Information:

How to get there: From the city of Ålesund, take E-136 to E-39 north (Åndalsnes) to the junction with Hwy. 661. When you get to the juction where Hwy. 659 forks left to Brattvåg, continue 2.1 kilometer on Hwy. 661 to Vatne. In Vatne, go left, still along Hwy. 661 and continue 15.2 kilometer to the trailhead with parking and information on your left hand side. This parking is called Rødstøl's Plass. The elevation is 30 meter and the location is N62:37.090, E006:40.158.
Route description: Head up the forest road just across from the parking. Higher up, but before the end of this road, a trail forks left. It is marked with a pole having blue paint. Traverse on this trail and connect with a tractor track that even heads a bit downhill before the trail forks right. There are more markers and a small wooden arrow here. The trail now climbs into Eikedalen and continues past Eikesætra to the 530 meter saddle connecting Eikedalen with Langedalen further west.
From this saddle, climb more steeply straight south below Skjerdingshalsen (801 m). Traverse right (west) and contour around Skjerdingshalsen to the beginning of the more distinct north ridge coming down from Blåskjerdingen. The elevation here is about 820 meter. Unless there is more (stable) snow than we experienced, the final part of this ascent may be best on foot along the top of the ridge to the summit.
Comments: I did this hike with my friend Arnt Flatmo. We started at 0900, arriving at the summit at 1220. We enjoyed the special January light, the good weather and the amazing scenery before descending at 1245. Back at the car by 1430 after a very nice hike.
I have had a wonderful weekend visiting Arnt Flatmo that just has moved to Ålesund. Many thanks for good company and great hospitality!
