Information:

How to get there:
A good dirt road ascends from Hwy. 3 south of Hedley. This road connects with a paved road ascending from Hwy. 97 in Penticton (Green Mountain Road connecting to Apex Mountain Road.) Above Apex Mountain Resort there are many forest roads, some open, some closed to public driving. Depending on your car and how long the hike should be, start near N49.38693, W119.94593, or from any dirt road that extends south-east from this direction. We parked near location N49.38317, W119.93079.
Here is a summary of climbs in Canada, August 2022,
Route::
A nice dirt road runs south to a small saddle that separates the mountain just north (with many antennas) from Apex. Follow this road and stay right at the fork shortly after the road starts ascending the hill. The road then ascends the hillside until the summit comes into view. This road continues all the way with a short, final uphill to the summit.
Comments:
We had visited Baldy Mountain in the morning. The access to this peak turned out to be a little problematic as the road from the east side was closed due to a wildfire that had been in the area the previous week. We drove around to the west side and, fortunately, this road was open.
We parked very near the road that actually serves the summit. Most likely, we could have driven all the way, however, it was nice to stretch the legs and have a mid-day walk. We took about 45 minutes to reach the summit around 1250. After a short break, we walked back in another 45 minutes.
This ended our trip in British Columbia, we took an early motel in Princeton, then drove back to Adam's dad the next day (Saturday). Many thanks are due to Adam for good friendship and a pretty long trip with several unexpected events. All was handled well and we achieved near maximum, given what was in the cards this time.
I now had a couple of days in Seattle reserved for seeing good friends. First, Loyce and Randy, then Karen and Rob. After a 2 year pandemic, it was quite lucky that they also would be in the Seattle area at the time of my return. My flight back to Norway leaving at 0600 on Wednesday, August 31st.
