Information:

How to get there:
Locate Hwy. 3330 connecting Notodden with Bø. This road is called Reshjemvegen (Go home road) on the map. The trailhead has parking for a few cars, right next to several large garbage containers serving the local area. This location is N59.55010, E009.11331, elevation close to 400 meter.
Route:
Continue along the small forest road that soon changes character to an ATV track. This in turn, turns into a normal trail. The route is marked with blue paint all the way. There is a trail sign about half-way. The trail leads to lake Sandtjønn at elevation 752 meter shortly before the final ascent to the summit. The round-trip distance is aboout 13.5 kilometer.
Comments:
I had stayed at the pretty big DNT self-serve hut called Himingsjå. Leaving early, I was ready to walk around 0950. It was a really nice day. The trail was pretty wet after recent rain, but generally in good condition. Typical eastern Norway forest terrain. I arrived at the summit after 1:55. Nice views in all directions. After a 10 minute break, I started the return hike. The mix of forest and meadows, a few small lakes and also quite distinct cliffs made for a nice autumn touch. About one kilometer before getting back, I met a single hiker. He asked me about the conditions. "Nice, but fairly wet" was my reply. He then explained that his question was about the ongoing Moose hunt. I now observed that he was dressed in a reflective, bright jacket. Obviously very worried to be mistaken for a moose. I told him, I had not seen any hunters nor any moose. The return hike took 1:35. I had decided to drive to the DNT hut Haukeliseter hopefully with dinner and a nice bed.
