Information:

How to get there:
Drive from Tromsø to Kvaløya and turn right as you leave the bridge. Keep going north, then take the first major road that forks left. Drive this uphill (the road crosses the island), then take a left fork just before your road enters a tunnel. This side road continues uphill to a rather large parking area located at the saddle. Park here, location N69:45.547 E018:51.311, elevation about 270 meter.
Route description:
From this parking, head south and turn the first local hill, either left or right. I skied steeply up on the left side, it may possibly be easier to just gain some elevation on the right side. Continue south as you ascend on the right side of XXX, then continue more flat before the gentle, final ascent to the summit. This route is marked with sticks and is obviously quite popular. I spotted several ski tracks along the route.
Comments:
I had agreed to pick up Åke at the airport around 2025. After sitting at my hotel room with work all day, it was time to get some fresh air despite a rather miserable weather. I left around 1710 and skied in light rain and near whiteout conditions to the summit. There is a pretty large cairn as well as a small radar dome up there. Arriving at 1900, it looked like the clouds were lifting. They did, at least partially, and I enjoyed an easy run back down to my car in just a bit more than 30 minutes.
