Information:

How to get there:
Drive south from the tunnel that connects Steigen to the rest of Norway. Follow signs for Bogøy. As you get to Bogøy, continue across the narrow bridge that serves the island Engeløya. After the bridge, you will arrive at a T-junction. Turn left and drive 7.1 kilometer. You should now see a Joker grocery store on your right. Park here, this is the trailhead, location N67.92630, E015.01099, elevation about 16 meter.
Route description:
The trail starts on the left side of the store. There is a well designed information sign near the corner. Follow the trail through a gate then across some open land before the uphill begins. Next, the trail climbs steeply to the col area between Hankammen, 536m (left) and Prestkona up on your right hand side. The trail turns right and climbs through some trees before entering open land that extends to the summit. Zig-zag uphill to reach what looks like the summit. However, it turns out that this is the lower end of a nice summit ridge that extends to the east. Follow the easy and almost horizontal ridge to the opposite end where two cairns are located.
Comments:
This was a combined work and travelling home day after 3 successful days in Steigen - one summit each day. I therefore decided to only take a short trip to nearby Prestkona, the island HP. In Bogøy, many people think that Trohornet is the highest peak, however the official map clearly states that it is one meter lower.
I left my car at 0900 and arrived at the summit at 1005. The sun was just breaking through the clouds and the visibility was quite reasonable. I stayed on top for 20 minutes before heading down. It was nice to sit down near the final cairn. I could look directly down to the nice beach at Bø, with warmer climate this would have been popular. The Lofoten peaks formed a long line, however not as nice as seen previously due to clouds. On the opposite side, the bridge across to Bogøy where I was staying, formed an intersting curve. Also, the pretty dominant Hatten, 1029 m, attracted attention. The descent took 45 minutes. This hike is short, but gains a very nice viewpoint. Thus, it is highly recommended.
