Information:

How to get there:
From Bergen, drive E-16 towards Voss, but exit (right) at Dale. Continue through Dale and up the narrow (spectacular) road that runs up Bergsdalen. About 30 years ago, this was the main Hwy. connecting Bergen to Oslo, very hard to believe when driving there today.
The trailhead is next to a bridge that forks right when you arrive at the lake Bergsvatnet. There is some parking near this bridge, both just before and just after (on the left hand side.) This location is N60.55928, E005.99346, elevation near 500 meter.
Route description:
Follow the road about 500 meter until you arrive at the area where the hillside climbs up on your right. There is a small (summer) path here, there is also an old wooden sign pointing uphill. Cross up this hill to reach (slightly) more level terrain above. Ski a bit closer to the creek, but stay well to the right. There is an open slope that climbs more steeply. Continue up here, staying on the open slope to reach about 660 meter of elevation and the more level terrain, the valley onwards is called Skarvadalen. This valley climbs gently to lake Skarvavatnet (762m), however one may start an ascending traverse (up on your right) climbing the lower slope of Borninolten. Continue up on the slopes just south of the summit. There is a cairn on a lower summit point to the north-east, the highest point is reached by heading a bit left on the upper slope.
Comments:
After almost 2 weeks with a bad flu, it was time to get out skiing. I wanted to check out the snow in Bergsdalen. Days are short and I did not leave Bergen very early, so the plan was a rather easy summit. I started around 12 noon, quite happy with enough snow to ski from the car. The summit was reached by 1330, after a slight detour as I skied to the false cairn first. The upper part of the mountain was quite hard crust, so a bit of a struggle. I skied rather carefully back down, the light was bad and it was hard to see the terrain in a proper way. Back by the car at 1430, then a nice drive back to Bergen.
