Information:

How to get there:
From Bergen, drive E-39 north to Romarheim. There is a signed road going right. This road serves Modalen, but is also a cross road towards E-16 and Dale.
Continue up the Modalen valley (Do NOT enter the long tunnel that connects to Eksingedalen). After somewhat more than 10 kilometer, locate the signed road that forks right. The sign reads Nygaard 6km. Drive this road, take the 3rd. road forking right, shortly before the road has its final uphill towards lake Steinavatnet. This road runs up Kvanndalen in summer, in winter this road is open only to serve a few local vacation huts. In winter, find good parking on your right immediately after crossing the creek. This location is N60.89801, E006.02449, elevation about 430 meter.
Route description:
Follow the road into Kvanndalen, take the left fork where the road forks. In summer, follow the trail that is marked on the map all the way to the summit. In winter, ascend easy slopes on the right hand side of the slope near 700 meter of elevation, then head more left (north-west) in order to enter the distinct valley that runs north-east, that is on the west side of point 1003m. This valley is narrow, but provides good access in the winter. Continue uphill until this valley becomes wider just before a small lake. Turn north-west as soon as the terrain allows this, uphill across gentle slopes. The remaining distance is more or less directly towards the summit.
Comments:
I climbed this mountain as part of an organized ski trip by the Bergen Mountaineering Group. We were 14 people, Fredrik Brun assisted me as co-trip leader. We started around 1030 and summited at 1315. We skied back down in Kvitavassdalen. Deep, fresh powder snow, fantastic conditions. We returned to the cars at 1530, a very nice ski trip.
