Information:
How to get there:
From Odda at the south end of Sørfjorden, drive south towards
Hwy. E-134 and Røldal. Shortly after the Låtefossen (waterfall) on your
left, the Hwy. turns sharply right at a place called Skarsmoen. Leave the hwy. here
and continue straight ahead. Follow the road signed for Reinsnos (14 km). The road
soon makes a sharp left and climbs. you pass lake Lotevatnet and then climb a bit more
before arriving at lake Reinsnosvatnet. There is a parking here and the paved road ends.
Continue along the lake on a good dirt road, immediately before
you get to the south end of lake Ljosavatnet 8on your left), there
is parking on the side of the road (left curve) on your right hand side.
This location is N59.96905, E006.70976, elevation about 630 meter.
Route description:
Walk a few meter towards lake Ljosavatnet, then turn left and head uphill, sort of
parallel to the lake following a natural ramp. When nearing its end, turn sharply
left and ascend on a steepish traverse in order to reach more gentle terrain at elevation
around 730 meter. Now continue north (towards Sandnuten), while staying left (high) below
the steeper terrain further up on your left. Turn more left as the terrain becomes less steep.
You will see what looks like a fairly pointed peak higher up. Ascend just right of
this point, the slope is longer/higher than it looks, but eventually you will
reach the main crest (above 1300 meter). proceed north to locate the highest point.
Comments:
I had skied to the summit of Reinsnosi in the morning, using my randonnee skis.
The day was just perfect and I decided that one more trip was called for. The area
up here has many nice options for skiing, I made up my mind to ski the highest
point on the opposite side of lake Reinsnosvatnet when seen from Reinsnosi.
