How to get there:
Drive E-16 from Bergen and turn left in the traffic circle at Vinje. You now
enter Hwy. 13. Continue until you have the main entrance to the ski resort Myrkdalen on your left, then
turn right on the first small road, about 380 meter onwards. After serving a few houses this road
becomes a toll road (accepting Vipps), NOK 50.- in 2021. Continue until you arrive at a signed
parking area on your left hand side. Park here, this is the trailhead. This location is
N60.85939, E006.53396, elevation about 660 meter.
The road continues a short section to the farm houses, but this part is reserved for
the owner of those buildings.
Route description:
Continue up to the summer farm.
You will see the mountain ahead and to your left. Find a suitable
ascending traverse going left, then continue (keep left) to the summit. The summit has
a nice cairn and a visitor register.
Comments:
Heidi and I came up on Friday (the day before) and spent the evening/night at the Myrkdalen Resort
Hotel. Today, Heidi would do recreational orienteering (Norwegian: Stolpejakten), while I would
visit this peak. The weather was just gorgeous, warm and sunny for being late August.
It took me 1:40 to reach the summit, the time was now 1100. After a 15 minute break, I descended
in slightly more than one hour arriving back at the car by 1220. I picked up Heidi a bit downhill,
we then returned to Bergen for a nice and sunny afternoon.
