The story of the album "Alt põranda ja üle nurga".

It happened in January 1993 that I suddenly got a lot of free time... (while waiting for a whole month for a visum to Norway to start my studies here.) I had my position in Bergen waiting for me from the 1st of January already and I had done all my duties in Tartu upto this date. And then, this unwaited holiday! Someone had given me an idea to record all my songs, mostly written in student times, before I forgot them myself during the years away. So I booked time at the studio "Vanemuine", director of which, Mart Moldau, is a friend of mine.

Two days before the time I met suddenly Teet Velling whom I had not seen for years. We used to make music together at the Tartu University Folk Club some years before. He had been to Ireland for a year or so and other places and it was interesting to talk with him. Later on I suddenly got an idea to ask him to come with me to the studio as I had always liked his excellent improvisations on guitar, he can play fantastic solos in fly. We then just tried some songs on the same evening and it turned out to be very promising. In addition had Teet learned to play Irish tin flutes...

The recording itself was made on the fly. We almost never took back letting everything come as it came. This is not a professional recording! You certainly will notice it. (So, do not have too high expectations in that direction.) But at least for me this adds a special dimension of value to the adventure.

Before leaving Tartu in the end of January I could then give all my friends a present with the recording of my songs...

Now I decided to take the cassett into the computer files and let it as an experiment to be available through WWW.
