Programme: Building Universes

Yes, indeed. There will be a Quartercon programme, and the main line of panels will be on the subject of Building Universes. There is a large number of authors and screen writers who certainly has written excellent and gripping stories, but where what we're often struck by more than anything is the universes they have created for their stories. The probably best-known, and certainly most extreme example is J.R.R.Tolkien, but there are examples from all genres of fantastic literature, TV and movie productions.

A series of panels are planned. There will be one from the writer's point of view, where we try to highlight how a writer works to generate his or her own universe. We will try to delve into specific universes, attempting to discover what makes some writers' universes so unique.

But, since part of the purpose with Quartercon is to introduce new people to fandom, some effort will be put into giving an overview of what fandom is really all about to the many people who will be attending their very first con. And of course, if anyone doubted, there will be a continuous video/movie programme, there for those who get tired of all the other facilities the convention offers.

Oh, and lest we forget, there will be a convention banquet, there will be a masquerade, and the bar will be open well into the nights...
