Combinations of contour rendering (ct) and regular dvr (different modalities)
I have rendered countours combined with different modalities of the monkey dataset. Here ct-data is used (contour-rendered) in combination with mri-t1, mri-t2 and pet data.
First off is combination of ct and t1-data. In these types of contour renderings the ct-data is rendered as contours, while the rest of the data is rendered in the standard direct volume way. This means that the t1 data representing bone (like the ct-data does in this case) is not rendered. I feel the brain-tissue was nicely captured in this visualization.
The two images above represent ct in combination with mri-t2 data. The monkeys eyes really came forward when rendering with this data. Video
This is a combination of ct and pet-data.
Cutaway of the datasets, using ct in combination with other modalities
In these screenshots the data have been cut along the x and y-axis, in such a way that the pet-data rendered inside the monkeyhead could be visualized properly. Video
Here t2-data has been cut along with ct-data as previously stated.
MIP-raycasting mapped onto another data modality
Here the pet-data has been MIP-raycasted and mapped onto the ct-dataset. Every ray which hits the "original" data, in this case, the ct-data, a mip-ray is shot through the pet-data. In some cases it will look like there is not any data. There are two reasons for this, either the ct-data does not contain defined bone which mip-rays would be mapped onto, or the pet-data mip-rays traverses and misses the data, which in both cases will result in white transparent areas. The original ct-data is provided to the right to help spatial guidance. Video
