In this talk an overview of the Advanced Computing Technology Center (ACTC) application performance analysis tools for tuning and optimization of applications running on the IBM SP will be presented. The ACTC tools were designed to help users to understand the behavior of applications on complex parallel environments. The talk will cover the tools developed for performance analysis on the IBM SP systems, as well as, performance tools under development, that are designed to provide feedback to users with regards to the use of the memory hierarchy on the new Power4 processor. Luiz DeRose, Ph.D. Luiz DeRose has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the Tools Group Leader at the ACTC at IBM Research. Before joining IBM, he worked at the Center for Supercomputing Research and Development (CSRD), the Pablo group at the University of Illinois, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
