How to get there:
This mountain has a trailhead with parking for 10-15 cars at location N42.19884, E1.75232, elevation about 1670 meter. The road is quite nice to the small village Vallcebre, from there and to the trailhead, the road is more narrow, but nice and paved all the way.
Route description:
The trail (sign) starts where the road bends. It is an easy and very heavily used trail. First, a gentle section in the forest. Next up on the left side of a creek, then slightly steeper left, to gain a broad ridge. Up the grass on the ridge to the higher plateau. You will now see the summit in the distance to your right. The route now turns right and descends slightly, passing the nice refugi Serra D'Ensija. Finally, a short ascent to reach the summit.
This hike seems pretty popular, I noticed several other groups. It is quite suitable as a family hike. One may also include a stop at the Refugi, they serve both food and drinks.
Comments:
A fairly long drive from our BC in Andorra. Also a bit expensive as I drove through 3 tunnels on my way to the trailhead, a one way toll charge close to Euro 30.
I started walking at 1055 and arrived on the summit after 1:10. A 10 minute break to look at the landscape and talk with other people that had summited shortly before me. After descending about 10 minutes, I made a second stop at the Refugi, a cold beer was just irresistable. Continuing down, I reached my car at 1310, for a total time of 2:15.
Driving back, I crossed over the last pass, saving one toll tunnel. I also noticed grey clouds and a bit of Rain in Andorra, while I had enjoyed sunshine on my hike in Spain.
