How to get there:
Drive Hwy. 57 north from Knarvik (signs for Mongstad). After
the turnoff for Seim, you drive through a tunnel before arriving at
a road fork (you now also see a lake (Storavatnet) just below. Turn right, and
follow the road that runs along Storavatnet. You will have the target hill up
on your right. Just as you are about to leave the lake, find parking in a big
right curve (you can park off the road in this curve). This location is
N60.63015 E005.31632, elevation about 50 meter.
Route description:
From the trailhead, you will see a small road
that heads uphill. Follow this, the route is well marked with red paint.
As you get closer to the steeper part of the hill, the red marked path turns
right. I do not know how this continues. Turn left here and head uphill towards
the base of the ridge. You will soon pick up a new trail. This trail climbs
steeply among some fallen trees, then more gently along the hill until it
makes the highest point. Comments:
I left my car around 1200 and made the summit about 1230.
On the return, I explored a different trail that lead me steeply
downhill near a small creek/drainage. I ended up back down at the
road near a private house at location N60.62526 E005.31579. This route
is shorter, but I would still recommend the route described above.
It is a slight mystery where the clearly red-marked route would connect up, since
I never located any obvious junction. After a short hike back to my
car, I continued my travel to the next hill around 1300.
The trip continued to Lyngfjellet.
