How to get there:
The starting point is at the end of the road in Storlidalen. Drive Hwy. 70 about 20 kilometer towards Sunndalsøra.
Go right here and drive the somewhat narrow, but paved road another 20 kilometer to Storli,
the road for public vehicles ends here.
There is a large parking (payment required) area and a good information sign describing many
hikes, including the trail to Storbekkhøa. This location is N62.69286, E9.0954, elevation about 620 meter.
Route:
Continue along the main road to location N62.6954, E9.0795, this is a road fork where a forest road
curves sharply right. The trail starts directly uphill from this fork. This trail is well marked with
cairns and red paint. It may be easily followed
to the summit of Storbekkhøa.
The trail starts about 800 meter from the parking area and is about 5 kilometer one way. The total elevation gain
on this trip is slightly less than 900 meter.
Comments:
I did this hike with my friend Jostein.
We had very nice weather, a good September day in the
mountains. Nice fall colors everywhere.
We started from his mountain cabin, so slightly longer
than the trip described above. Start around 1100, I made the summit around 1330, while Jostein
turned around shortly before the summit. It took some effort to catch up with him descending.
A very nice trip, about 5 hours in total. Many thanks to Jostein for a great stay at his
cabin, including 3 nice dinners.
